One person has died and two others are seriously injured after a horror five-vehicle accident in Sydney’s Royal National Park.
At about 12.30pm three motorcycles and two cars were involved in a collision on Sir Bertram Stevens Drive near the intersection of the notorious Bundeena Drive.
A male motorcycle rider was treated at the scene but died from his injuries. The other two riders received pelvis and leg injuries.
They have been taken to St George Hospital. Both motorcyclists remain in a critical condition.
The drivers of the two vehicles, a man and a woman, were taken to Sutherland Hospital to undergo mandatory testing.
The woman suffered minor facial injuries.
An off-duty paramedic was one of the first at the scene and was able to render assistance.
"He triaged the thee patients and then he was able to give a very accurate and precise handover to the paramedics that first turned up there," Inspector Geoffrey Senior of Ambulance NSW told reporters.
"They had head, chest and pelvic injuries and also fairly serious fractures."
Sir Bertram Stevens Drive is closed in both directions while an investigation is underway.
It is expected to remain closed for several more hours.
The accident scene did not have any guardrails.
