Family confirm missing Brisbane teen Larissa Beilby is dead

The family of missing Brisbane teen Larissa Beilby have confirmed the 16-year-old is dead.

In an emotional post on social media, Larissa's sister Deanna announced the news to family and friends on Facebook, while paying tribute to her sister.

"With a broken heart shattered into more than a million pieces our family is utterly destroyed to inform you all that Larissa has been taken from us.

"Our beautiful girl has been reunited with our beloved wife and mother.

"Fly high our darling angel, until we see you again Rissy."

The news comes just hours after suspected killer Zlatko Sikorsky surrendered to police following a 28-hour siege on the Sunshine Coast.

It's been reported that police have formally identified the female body in the barrell, found on the tray of a ute on Wednesday, as the 16-year-old.

Police are said to be currently interview the 34-year-old suspect, who is expected to be charged with the teen's murder, according to the ABC.

A 40-year-old Sunshine Coast woman was charged on Friday with being an accessory to murder, news.com.au reports, for taking Sikorsky to the Alexandra Headland unit.

While the 28-year-old man living in the apartment Sikorsky barricaded himself inside during the siege was charged on Saturday with accessory after the fact to murder  after facing allegations he was helping to shield the fugitive.

Sikorsky sparked a manhunt after the discovery of a woman's body in a blue barrel on the back of a ute in Stapylton, near the Gold Coast.

Authorities were hunting Sikorsky over the disappearance of his girlfriend Larissa Beilby, who had not contacted her family since June 18.

The 34-year-old had been on the run for more than 48 hours before barricading himself in a home inside the unit block at 3pm yesterday.

The lengthy negotiations ended at 6.30pm when Sikorsky surrendered. He has been taken to Maroochydore Watch House.

Sikorsky has a long criminal history and has had a warrant out for his arrest since March, after he breached his parole conditions.
