Munster murder, WA: Naked man held by police as woman found dead - NEWS.com.au

A naked man who was running and disorientated in nearby bushland has been taken into custody, after a woman was found killed in a reported axe attack in Perth.

The homicide squad is investigating the woman’s death after her body was found at a property at Munster in Perth’s southern suburbs.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at about 12.10pm local time on Friday after a neighbour found the woman at the home.

Seven News understands neighbours found the body after hearing a noise.

While the man is in custody, it is not clear if the two events are connected.

The man was discovered an hour after they found the woman’s body.

He was found in the neighbouring suburb of Henderson, near the intersection of Russell Road and Rockingham Road.

Police said a man was “running around naked and appearing disoriented”.

The man, believed to be in his 20s, is believed to have taken off into bushland before being found in Munster, the ABC reports.

Police are treating her death as suspicious but have not officially confirmed how she died.

Detectives are investigating if she was killed in a home invasion that went wrong, 9 News also reports.

“But because it was in this vicinity we’ve had significant resources deployed to locate that person, and subsequently that person was taken in the custody at about 2pm this afternoon,” Inspector Geoff DeSanges said.

Police are appealing for the public to come forward with information as the investigation into the woman’s death got under way.

“Detectives and forensic officers are now investigating circumstances that led up to that death and police are appealing for anyone who has information in relation to this situation,” Inspector DeSanges said.

Forensic police shut down part of Henderson Road in Munster and were reported to be at the scene overnight, as they search for clues to what happened to the woman.

They have not released further information about her identity.

The woman’s death is the fourth suspicious death in Western Australia since Boxing Day.

Jason John Burt, 39, appeared in court charged with murdering a 68-year-old man at another Perth home on Boxing Day.

Police say the victim was taken from a Duncraig home to Royal Perth Hospital on Wednesday night but died soon after.

Burt faced Joondalup Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in custody to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on January 9.

Connor Stephen Milton, 20, also appeared in Joondalup Magistrates Court charged with murdering 34-year-old Craig Wilson during a fight in Clarkson, in Perth’s north, on Thursday.

Police are also continuing to investigate the death of a 30-year-old Perth man in Kalgoorlie, in WA’s Goldfields, on Wednesday.
