A man died after being struck by an ambulance on Cranbourne Road in Frankston on Monday morning.
Police believe the emergency van, a Mercedes, was travelling west on the main road, near Wattle Tree Lane, when it hit the pedestrian just before 2.30am.
The man, who is yet to be formally identified, was treated at the scene but died before being taken to hospital.
The ambulance was on the way to an emergency with lights and sirens activated at the time of the incident.
