SYDNEY workers driving throughout the city this morning are facing an absolute nightmare commute after an early morning crash on the M5 created traffic chaos.
Traffic was banked up for 23km for those heading eastbound while commuters heading west were also forced to sit in queues stretching 14km.
Delays for traffic heading east have begun to ease however westbound traffic is still heavy, with commuters currently sitting in 10km queues.
Drivers were facing a commute of up to two hours longer than they normally deal with at 7.30am.
The cause of the chaos was a crash between a truck and car near Beaconsfield Street at Revesby at 5.30am.
It forced the closure of the westbound motorway.
Drivers are still encouraged to exit at The River Road to avoid the delays and use Milperra Road and Henry Lawson Drive to return to the motorway.
One driver was assessed by paramedics on the scene.
