A search is underway for a Sydney toddler who police say has wandered off from a campsite in central western New South Wales.
Three-year-old James Skillen was last seen at a private property campsite in Razorback, about 70 kilometres south of Mudgee, last night.
Inspector Dan Skelly from Dubbo said authorities and volunteers were scouring the 100-acre property in daylight again, after a search began yesterday at 7:00pm.
"[He's a] healthy three-and-a-half-year-old boy, no medical issues," Inspector Skelly said.
"We're hoping he's laying under a tree waiting for us to come and get him."
James was with family — a group of about 20 — for an Easter break.
Police are using a rescue helicopter, and are joined by the State Emergency Service and other rescue volunteers.
Inspector Skelly said police divers, detectives and a dog squad would be joining the search soon.
"We're dealing with steep terrain," he said.
The toddler is described as having a fair complexion, about 60 centimetres tall, green eyes and sandy blond hair in a buzz cut.
He was last seen wearing dark blue shorts and a t-shirt and carrying a yellow backpack.
