The Bachelor is a tale as old as time – you've got your handsome, muscular leading man who takes off his top and stares into the distantce a lot; the girl-next-door who's a shoo-in from the outset; the court jester; a few randoms to make up the numbers and then there's the "villain" – the one that everyone loves to hate, but loves to watch even more.
Sometimes they cast themselves in the antagonist role, other times they are put in that position by producers and their co-stars. Their qualities include, but are not limited to, competitiveness, brazenness, outspokenness, over-confidence and a thick skin.
This year Alisha Aitken-Radburn seems to fit the bill.
The 25-year-old left Bill Shorten's Canberra office, where she had been working for the past year, to try her luck at love with former Wallaby, Nick "Honey Badger" Cummins, 30.
The political aficionado has been described to The Goss as "a colourful character" and a "campus personality" by those who knew her during her days at the University of Sydney, where she acted as student union board director and president of the student's union.
