Parramatta Road traffic delays expected after car hits power pole

Motorists have been warned to expect delays along Parramatta Road after a car crashed into a power pole at Homebush.

The crash happened about 4.30am at Parramatta Road and Bridge Road, bringing down power lines across the road and knocking out traffic lights, a spokesman for the Traffic Management Centre said.

The male driver was initially trapped in the car and suffered some injuries, the spokesman said.

Only one lane in each direction on Parramatta Road will be open during peak hour as work is done to restore the traffic lights and power lines.

"Traffic will still get through but they may experience delays," the spokesman said.

He said it was anticipated the road would be fully open by 9am.

By 7.45am, all west-bound lanes were opened to traffic but one east-bound lane remained closed.

Motorists are being encouraged to use the M4 as an alternative route and allow extra travel time.
