A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a crash that saw him thrown from his bike before being struck by another vehicle on the Bruce Highway on Thursday.
Preliminary investigations indicate that at 4:38pm, a car and a motorcycle were travelling northbound when they collided near the Arthur Drewitt Drive overpass at Burpengary.
The motorcycle rider was thrown from his bike and was subsequently struck by a third vehicle, which then also struck a car parked on the side of the highway.
The rider of the motorcycle, a 25-year-old Burpengary man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 48-year-old woman transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a stable condition.
Two other patients were treated at the scene but did not require hospitalisation.
As a result of the crash, traffic was diverted along New Settlement Road and the Bruce Highway remained closed for several hours, with police urging commuters to seek alternative routes and to avoid the area. There were still delays northbound at 9.30pm.
The Forensic Crash Unit was investigating.
Investigators are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam vision to contact police.
The 2017 road toll sits at 247 and the Christmas period (from December 23) sits at five.
