Sky News host Andrew Bolt notes “there were no tears for Pell” after he lost his appeal against his conviction for abusing two 13-year-old choir boys two decades ago. On Wednesday the Victorian Court of Appeal upheld George Pell's conviction of child sex offences. A jury found Cardinal Pell guilty in December of sexually abusing two choirboys in 1996 when he served as Archbishop of Melbourne. He was sentenced to six years in prison with a non-parole period of three years and eight months. Mr Bolt said two judges from the Court of Appeals admitted there were “powerful arguments” that Pell’s attack on the two boys was “improbably or implausible” which he said is an “absurdly high hurdle to set” for a defence. He said those representing victims of child sexual abuse cheered the court's verdict while Pell's defenders were “crushed”. Image: AP
