Teacher attacked and school locked down during wild student brawl - The Age

A person with knowledge of the incident said the attack on the teacher included stomping and kicking, but the Education Department would not provide details.

Police said the teacher walked away with minor injuries, while a 17-year-old was taken to hospital and later discharged.

It is understood there was a similar violent incident on Friday involving the same teacher and staff have been living in fear.

The Age has also been told some students involved in the fight had recently been suspended or expelled, and that a parent was also involved, but the department would only refer The Age to a generic statement from principal Kerri Bolch.

"There was an altercation between students at the school earlier today, which prompted us to enact our lockdown procedure," she said.

"We do not tolerate this type of behaviour at our school and it does not reflect the values of the overwhelming majority of our students.

"This matter has been reported to Victoria Police and we will assist them with their inquiries. We will investigate this matter thoroughly and take any appropriate action."
