Huge rise in accidental drug overdose nationally - AM - ABC Local

More than 30 Australians are dying each week from accidental drug overdoses.

That's the findings from the Penington Institute's Annual Overdose Report, which found that the the death rate, from both legal and illegal drugs, has risen by nearly 40 per cent in the last decade.

Every state and territory has seen a rise, and far from just being an inner-city problem, you're now more likely to die from an unintentional drug overdose if you live in regional or rural Australia.
