Volatile youths heckled police and reportedly smashed glass bottles during the final night of Melbourne's revamped White Night festival.
Video footage shows mounted police at Federation Square on Saturday night attempting to move on a crowd, while glass can be heard smashing in the background.
Others can be heard screaming near the horses and swearing at police as they attempted to disperse the large crowd.
It followed an earlier operation at Flinders Street Station where about 50 police gathered in anticipation of the arrival of a large group of youths. Sudanese community leaders were also in attendance, to help deal with the potential arrival.
