George Pell appeal LIVE: Cardinal arrives at the Supreme Court - The Age

The Age's court reporter Adam Cooper is inside the Supreme Court, and will be reporting on the outcome of the appeal for our live blog.

He writes that the court is full now, comprising Pell's inner sanctum, supporters and lawyers of the two victims, advocates for other child-sex victims, the cardinal's other supporters, and media.

Prosecutors and Pell's lawyers have been in and out of the court room.

In about 10 minutes, the Court of Appeal judges will read out their decision.

George Pell’s brother David has just entered the court, accompanied by Katrina Lee, the Cardinal’s long serving spokeswoman.

The doors have closed. Court 15 is full.

The father of one of the complainants, who died following a heroin overdose in 2014, has had a sleepless night.

His lawyer, Lisa Flynn from Shine Lawyers, told radio station 3AW radio the father is "really anxious".

"He had a sleepless night last night. It's been a really difficult process for him."

Ms Flynn said the father will sue Pell no matter what today's outcome is.

“Ladies and gentlemen, you can enter.”

The courtroom doors have opened and members of the media and the public are filing in.

The box where Pell will sit is empty. A jug of water sits beside a stack of styrofoam cups and a box of tissues.

About four rows of ten seats are available for the public. By 8.49am, the seats are full.

Nine's Today Show captured the moment George Pell arrived at the Supreme Court for this morning's decision.

Julie Cameron has been waiting on the steps of the Supreme Court since just after 6am.

She’s brought her grandmother's missal (a book containing texts used in Mass) to every step of Pell’s trial and is hoping for the “miracle” guilty verdict to be upheld today.

“When I was in the court room with mum's missal, when that guilty verdict was brought down I felt it was a miracle," she says.

"Today what I'm hoping is that miracle continues, that the judges will acknowledge the jury gave their hearts to give a decision about this."

A small group of Pell's supporters and critics have gathered at the steps of the Supreme Court ahead of this morning's decision on the cardinal's appeal against child sex abuse convictions.

Anne Lastman has flown across the country from Perth in the hope Pell will be exonerated today.

She says she has known him for 30 years and he helped her set up her post-abortion and sexual abuse grief-counselling business. She says they have had coffees and biscotti in Rome and he has never been anything but supportive to her.

“He’s one of the kindest men on earth, would walk over hot coals to help you,” she says. “If he does not walk free today, that will be an injustice.”

Reporter Charlotte Grieve is outside the Supreme Court, where a group of Pell's supporters and critics have gathered ahead of today's decision.

She writes: as the sun comes up and the rain lightly falls, the regular attendees of Pell’s trial huddle under the sandstone pillars of the Supreme Court. Many have sat through every day of his trial and have once again travelled long distances to see the outcome of today.

Pell is expected to arrive at the Court soon, with the Appeal judges set to hand down their decision at 9.30am.
