Melbourne Express, Monday, April 23, 2018

Slightly colder now in the city, sitting at 12.6 degrees ahead of a mostly sunny 28. It's foggy for the fourth day in a row. The boffins at the bureau don't expect it to stick around as long as it did on Friday, when the last of the fog swept out around midday.

Minor delays on the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Werribee lines. Last week of track works on the Hurstbridge line (hang in there!).

There's a prang on Lygon Street at Carlton. Delays also through Parkville due to tram works. Also a section of the Great Ocean Road closed due to a truck rollover at Princetown.

Fog is causing several delays for inbound and outbound flights at Melbourne Airport. Read more about it here.

And for those of us on the ground, here's a view of pea-soup Monday from The Age photographer Eddie Jim:

A truck has rolled near Lavers Hill at Princetown, closing a 30-kilometre stretch of the Great Ocean Road.

The road is closed in both directions between Princetown Road and Colac Lavers Hill Road. Police are on site diverting traffic.

Time for the Target word. Today's letters are E R G U B N H I O.

Behind the apartment's curtain, a tough guy is boxing, throwing hooks and jabs, making any passing criminal think twice before breaking in. But the image is just a projected shadow, one that a Japanese apartment management company hopes will protect and reassure women living there by themselves.

We love a good weather event don't we? It's Melbourne's fourth foggy morning in a row. Have you got some shots to share? Send them in via email or Twitter.

A cardigan-clad man in tights has tried and failed - twice - to break into a house in Melbourne's south-east.

The man first attempted to open the front door of a property in Narre Warren around midday on April 7. He then cut a wire on a security camera and broke a garage window.

No entry was gained. Police have released a clear picture of the man. Anyone who knows him can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

More from Daniella Miletic: A Qantas spokesman says they too are experiencing delays and cancellations - interestingly, on their outbound flights.

The spokesman said they were also tracking inbound flights but had not experienced any trouble "at this stage" with flights coming into Melbourne.

More confirmations of delays at Melbourne Airport. Daniella Miletic reports:

Flights are departing Melbourne but there are delays on arrivals. Jetstar has cancelled two return flights to the Gold Coast and there are delays up to two hours to allow conditions to improve.

A Melbourne Airport spokeswoman confirmed some delays on some domestic flights inbound, but said the delays were not significant.

It's a moody morning out there.
