Two scooter riders killed in a crash in Sydney's south - The Sydney Morning Herald

Police are investigating the circumstances of a motor scooter crash that left two people dead in Kingsgrove in Sydney's south on Monday night.

The 32-year-old scooter driver and his pillion passenger, a man aged in his 30s, had been driving south on Kingsgrove Road, when they stopped about 8.20pm to turn right onto Vivienne Street, police said.

At the same time, a bus was also travelling south on Kingsgrove Road. A short time later, the scooter and a car heading north on Kingsgrove Road crashed.

Despite the efforts of paramedics and Fire and Rescue NSW crews at the scene, the driver of the scooter and his passenger died on the road.

The scooter was destroyed in the crash, leaving glass strewn across the road. The bus was also damaged, with the right-hand-side of the windscreen smashed.

The bus driver and the driver of the car were not injured, and both were taken to hospital for mandatory tests.

Officers from the St George Police Area Command as well as officers from the metropolitan crash investigation unit have started an inquiry into the incident and will be looking at how the bus was involved in the fatal crash.
