Fatal shooting near Mildura may be linked to death in NSW

A man has been arrested after shootings in Victoria and New South Wales this afternoon that left two people, including an elderly woman, dead.

The body of an 82-year-old woman was found with a fatal gunshot wound at a home at Snowy Avenue, Red Cliffs, in Victoria's north-west, around 12:30pm.

Red Cliffs is about 15 kilometres south of Mildura, in Victoria's Sunraysia region.

About an hour later, police in New South Wales said a shooting was reported on a property at Rufus, where one man was found dead and another was seriously injured.

Rufus is about 120 kilometres west of Red Cliffs on the New South Wales side of the Murray River.
