The fire has since been extinguished and all westbound lanes of the M5 East have reopened in Kingsgrove. Eastbound lanes currently remain closed.

Eastbound motorists will continue to be diverted until the road - which was damaged in the explosion - can be repaired.

The tanker’s driver managed to escape unscathed and has spoken to police, who are currently investigating.
