The document's filed by Galbally & O'Bryan in essence, claim the majority wrongly put the onus on Pell to prove he was innocent.
"Though the majority said that there was no onus on the applicant to prove impossibility, that is precisely what their analysis required him to do," the application said.
"In effect, this approach required the applicant to establish actual innocence, as opposed to merely pointing to doubt, in order to counter the favourable impression of the complainant's sincerity adopted by the majority. This was a reversal of the onus and standard of proof."
It has been widely speculated Pell's legal team would seek to appeal to Australia's top court after Justice Mark Weinberg 200-page dissenting decision in August left the community divided.
