Two women, one of whom was heavily pregnant, have died and two men are critically injured after a horror crash in Sydney.
Emergency services were called toNorthern Road near Glenmore Parkway at Orchard Hills at 7.45pm yesterday.
NSW Police said the vehicle travelling south collided with one coming in the opposite direction.
A female driver and her rear passenger, who was heavily pregnant, died at the scene.
The pregnant woman's unborn child also died.
The male front passenger was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
The sole occupant and male driver of the southbound vehicle was trapped after the crash.
He was extricated and taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
"One has limb injuries, a pelvic injury and a head injury, the other one also has a head injury and has been put into an induced coma by our medical team," NSW Ambulance acting inspector Joe Ibrahim said.
Two other vehicles were also hit but none of their occupants were injured.
Officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
The road will be closed while it is examined by officers attached to the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
