Train passenger 'punched' in head for asking for music to be turned down

POLICE are hunting for a man who allegedly punched another man in the head on a Melbourne train after he asked him to turn his music down.

The alleged 19-year-old victim was on a Frankston line train on August 20 when another man hopped on the train at Bentleigh at about 2.30pm. He was playing loud music on a portable Bluetooth speaker.

The victim asked the man to turn the music down before the man had allegedly verbally abused him and punched him to the back of the head.

The alleged offender got off the train at Glenhuntly and the teenage victim continued on to the city and reported the incident to police later that day.

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating and have released an image of a man who may assist with their inquiries.

The man police wish to talk to is described as caucasian, in his late 20s or 30s, and was wearing a dark cap on backwards, and a red long-sleeved checked shirt.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
