Local police are currently on the scene, awaiting the arrival of the Bomb Response Unit.
Wodonga SES volunteers are also at the scene, sandbagging the area.
Four men, aged in their 30s, were arrested at the Macpherson St property about 10.20am on Friday.
Three guns, quantities of drugs, an energy conducted device, and ski and camping gear, which was believed to have been stolen, were among the items recovered during the raid.
They will be interviewed by police in relation to firearms offences, handling stolen goods, and drug offences.
The Bomb Response Unit travelled to the property from Melbourne and will detonate the homemade device as a safety precaution.
A local resident told the Herald Sun the occupants of the house had lived there for a few years.
“I see them from time to time, working on their cars,” he said. “I don’t have much to do with them.”
A police spokeswoman said that there was no threat to public safety.
