Girls, one and two, found dead in Queensland car showed 'signs of heat exposure' - SBS News

Two toddlers found dead in a car in Logan, south of Brisbane, showed signs of exposure to extreme heat, according to Queensland police.

Paramedics and police were called to a home on Logan Reserve Rd in Waterford West about 1.35pm on Saturday, where they attempted to revive the two girls, aged one and two.

"Unfortunately, they were both declared deceased at the scene," Queensland police's Detective Inspector Mark White told reporters.

"The children exhibited evidence of being exposed to extreme heat."

A crime scene has been declared as officers work to determine the cause of the deaths.

Earlier, authorities told media the children were found unresponsive in the "hot" car.

Inspector White told reporters it was a “tragic scene” that confronted emergency services.

"(We must) also being mindful of the tragic circumstances in which we find ourselves here today," he said.

"As a normal course, we are speaking with the parents and will be speaking to quite a number of people, because the purpose of that is to establish exactly what has taken place. As I said I'm very limited in what I can say at this point, but it's a very tragic incident that has occurred.

"I will say that they were very young children and the circumstances surrounding that are what we are trying to establish now."

Police officers and forensic officers remain at the scene and police tape has been strung across the front door of a house nearby.
