Disgusting find on Woolies bread

A Woolworths customer has warned others to check sale products before buying after she noticed something disgusting hidden inside a packet of banana bread.

The woman was left horrified after noticed a reduced price banana bread loaf was covered in mould and past it’s best before date.

The mouldy product was reportedly spotted in a store in the Sydney CBD, with the woman uploading a picture to Reddit with the caption: “Friendly reminder to always check the reduced stuff before you buy it.”

The item was placed between other reduced products, however the others seemed to still be in date.

Reddit users were quick to call out the supermarket giant for the appalling find, with one saying she should have reported it to the store.

“Greedy super markets should never be selling expired items, in the first place,” one person said.

Another wrote: “Their prices are so high for old bread or dead fruit and veggies — I find myself going to independent grocers all the time now.”

Qld faces extreme danger as 80 fires burn

Hundreds of firefighters are bracing for catastrophic weather conditions as they continue to battle 80 bushfires across Queensland.

Dangerous conditions are expected to peak on Wednesday with emergency services warning conditions would be perfect for potential firestorms and more possible property losses.

Temperatures in central Queensland are expected to soar over the 40-degree mark while winds will likely gust at around 40km/h.

Interstate crews arrived on Tuesday to help fight an inferno in central Queensland that’s destroyed homes and burnt through at least 20,000 hectares of bush and farmland since Saturday.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Commissioner Katarina Carroll said there was no respite in sight.

“The climate, the heat and the fire is horrendous,” she said. “There are 80 fires burning across the state and I expect that to dramatically increase in the coming days.” Electrical storms have been forecast across the region and emergency services fear dry-lightning strikes could spark more blazes.

Bride’s brutal note to sister

A bride has shared a scathing letter she wrote in the lead up to her wedding, after her sister stole the spotlight with an unexpected announcement.

The woman wrote the letter ten years ago six weeks before her wedding but never ended up sending it to her sister, who was one of her bridesmaids at the time.

However, last week she opened it on The Ruan Tubridy Radio Show in Ireland, revealing she cried non-stop for days when her sister announced her own engagement before the wedding.

“Now don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for you. I’m delighted that you’ve found someone who makes you happy and who you wish to spend the rest of your life with,” she wrote.

“But could you not have waited another six weeks before announcing your engagement?

“You only get engaged and married once, and the run-up to my wedding should be a special time. I’ve the hen night coming up in two weeks and forgive me for being a bridezilla but the focus should be on me and my day, not you and your engagement!”

She wrote that she thought it would be best to write her feelings down and decide whether or not to send the letter after the wedding.

“Please forgive me for not being very enthusiastic about your engagement but I’m finding it very hard to muster a smile at the moment,” the letter continued

“I’m so hurt that neither you nor your fiance thought for one moment the impact it would have on me and mine, it should be our time to shine and our wedding, and you have thoughtlessly taken that away.

“You both will have your time in the future, I hope nobody does to you what you’ve done to me.”

She finished the note by sarcastically thanking her sister for her “thoughtfulness”, adding that she wasn’t “really surprised”.

Heavy rain and flood warning for NSW

People living on the NSW coast are being warned to prepare for intense rain and flash flooding today as a low pressure system reaches the state’s coast.

Sydney, the Hunter and the Illawarra are the main areas that will be affected, with conditions expected to wreak havoc on commuters this morning.

Drivers are being told to stay off the roads if possible as heavy rain is likely to result in extremely reduced visibility.

Bureau of Meteorology severe weather manager Simon Louis said the rain wasn’t expected to last long but “quite intense” falls would develop in the morning and persist through the afternoon.

He expects many areas to receive 50 to 100mm with some localised parts exceeding 150mm.

Sydney’s average rainfall for November is 84mm.

“It’s not that unusual to have weather event give you a month’s worth of rain in 24 hours ... but it is always associated with risks such as creeks coming up and roads being awash,” Mr Louis said.

Minor to moderate flash flooding is possible along the Hawkesbury, Nepean, Cooks and Georges rivers, the bureau says.

SES Assistant Commissioner Scott Hanckel even advised people try to arrange to work from home if possible.
