Gold Coast road rage victim had taken on late step-father's role supporting family

During the past month, Brock Prime had stepped up to fill his late step-father's shoes as one of the main breadwinners in his family to support his mother, brother and sister.

On Sunday evening, he lay in an induced coma in the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious head injuries after being brutally attacked on the side of the M1 in Yatala.

Police were still trying to piece together exactly what happened, but detectives said Brock was involved in a near-collision with a white van on the M1 in Coomera.

The van chased Brock's Subaru Forester as it weaved in and out of northbound traffic before the two vehicles pulled over in Yatala and Brock was set upon by up to 13 people from the van.

Brock's brother Jonty said he was on his way to a friend's house when the road rage incident took place and police said there was a passenger with him in the car.
