Australians to get $125 for power bills in pre-election cash splash - Sydney Morning Herald

Almost four million Australians will receive a one-off payment to help offset the rising costs of energy.

Vulnerable and low-income households can expect to receive cash handouts of $75 for singles and $125 for couples.

Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has promised that if the legislation passes, payments will be deposited into the bank accounts of about 3.9 million eligible Australians by the end of financial year.

Those receiving the one-off energy cash handouts include 2.4 million people on age pensions, nearly 750,000 people on disability support pensions, carers and single parent payment recipients, as well as eligible veterans.
