Australian shares are expected to open higher this morning following the previous day's broad falls.

The SPI200 futures contract was up 25 points, or 0.41 per cent, at 6,130.0 at 7am, suggesting a positive start for the benchmark S&P/ASX200 today.

The Aussie dollar is buying 71.92 US cents, up from 71.57 US cents yesterday.
