The Best Competitive Poison-Type Pokémon In Diamond & Pearl - Screen Rant

australiablogsnews.blogspot.com

Poison-type Pokémon are now a competitive option thanks to the quality of life updates in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining PearlPoison-type Pokémon have always been defensively strong, having more resistance than weaknesses in Pokémon. Unfortunately, Poison-type Pokémon have also struggled offensively in competitive battles. However, it has been traditionally common to see other types of Pokémon use Poison-type moves like Toxic and Poison Jab.

Poison-type Pokémon used to be the worst type of Pokémon that players could choose, and were often only selected if they were made better by a dual typing like Water or Grass-types. This is because Poison-type Pokémon moves could only do 2x damage against Grass-type Pokémon, so long as the Grass-type wasn't paired with a type that resisted Poison-type attacks like Ground, Rock, Poison, or Ghost. Thanks to the addition of Fairy-type Pokémon in BDSP, Poison-type Pokémon have a second chance at being some of the best competitive options in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. However, Poison-type Pokémon still receive 2x damage from Ground and Psychic-type moves, so trainers need to be wary of commonly used moves in competitive battles like Psychic and Earthquake.

The best competitive Poison-type Pokémon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are Gengar, Roserade, Tentacruel, and Crobat. Gengar is only obtainable once players trade their Haunter to another player and return the newly evolved Gengar. Tentacruel can be found in nearly every body of water across the Sinnoh region and inside multiple caves in Pokémon BDSP's Grand Underground. Likewise, Zubat and Golbat can be found in many caves, if not all, and evolved into Crobat by raising Golbat's friendship level. Finally, Roserade evolves from Roselia with the use of a Shiny Stone.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl's Best Competitive Team

Since Fairy-type Pokémon are so powerful in competitive battles, Poison-type Pokémon like Gengar, Roserade, Tentacruel, and Crobat have become more desirable. Speed isn't typically a high stat on many Fairy-type Pokémon, which gives Poison-types an edge over their competition. Roserade is a great Poison-type lead that can set up Toxic Spikes and put the opponent's lead Pokémon to sleep with Sleep Powder. Gengar is a solid Special Attack Poison-type option, and it also doubles as one of the best Ghost-type Pokémon in BDSP. Tentacruel has naturally high Special Defense and Speed stats, allowing it to use Knock Off and Rapid Spin to remove an opponent's held item and clear field of traps like Stealth Rock. Crobat's Hidden Ability, Infiltrator, allows it to ignore the effects of moves like Reflect, Light Screen, Safeguard, and Substitute.
