Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin loves trolling his former boss, Alabama coach Nick Saban. And one of his favorite Saban-isms to poke fun at is Saban’s “rat poison” saying.
Back in 2017, Saban labeled positive media attention as poison for him to try and get his players to listen to him. He then clarified, calling the praise, "like rat poison."
This time, Kiffin's prodding came via posting a license plate that referenced Saban's famous quote.

Saban’s comments in 2017 came after Alabama defeated Texas A&M 27-19, when he was asked about the offense getting off to a rough start with some first quarter three-and-outs.
“We just didn’t play as well tonight, and you have to give them a lot of credit for it,” Saban said. “I’m trying to get our players to listen to me instead of listening to you guys. All that stuff you write about how good we are, all that stuff they hear on ESPN, it’s like poison. It’s like taking poison — like rat poison.”
Kiffin was already head coach at Florida Atlantic at that point after three years as Alabama's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. But that didn't stop him from having a little fun with his former head coach, and turning it into a pretty consistent punchline. Kiffin responded to a tweet on Wednesday praising Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral with a rat emoji and a poison emoji, giving him at least two pokes at the bear just over the last couple days.
