Bridget Regan is headed to Gotham. The Jane the Virgin alum is joining The CW’s Batwoman in Season 3, playing iconic DC villain Poison Ivy (aka Pamela Isley).
According to Deadline, Regan will have a recurring role in the upcoming series. Her character is a former botany student at Gotham University whose dreams of changing the world for the better were turned upside down when her colleague experimented on her with various plant toxins, turning her into Poison Ivy.
“With a formidable power coursing through her veins, Pamela used her powers to do what she thought was right… even if Batman and those closest to her disagreed with her dangerous methods,” the official character synopsis reads. “Now effectively wiped off the board for years, Batwoman and the Bat Team must prepare themselves for Poison Ivy to return with a vengeance.”
This isn’t Regan’s first appearance on a superhero show — she also played Dottie Underwood (aka the first Black Widow) in the Marvel series Agent Carter.
Season 2 ended with Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) becoming Gotham’s one and only Batwoman after Kate Kane (Wallis Day) left the city in search of her long-lost cousin Bruce Wayne. Ryan also discovered her birthmother was actually alive, so it’s unclear how Poison Ivy will factor into her Season 3 journey.
Other newly announced cast members include Nick Creegan as Marquis Jet and Victoria Caragena as Renee Montoya. Batwoman also stars Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Nicole Kang, and Camrus Johnson. The series is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros Television.
Batwoman Season 3 premieres on The CW on October 13.
