A “boom” was widely reported, Texas Storm Chasers said.
In a video of the meteorite posted to a Texas Storm Chasers Facebook fan page, a bright spot is seen heading toward the earth, and a loud pop is heard before the light bursts. The video was taken from a Ring doorbell in Carthage, Texas.
In another video featuring the Dallas skyline, the camera zooms out and captures a bright light that can be seen heading north.
The meteor that was spotted over the DFW metro was caught on one of @EarthCam's cameras in Downtown Dallas! After the camera zooms back out to the main shot of downtown, the meteor can be seen zipping by on the top of the video. #meteor #txwx pic.twitter.com/BAKrQKSkop
